Two boys aged 5 and 6 drown while swimming in pit

Two boys, aged 5 and 6, drowned in an abandoned pit filled with rain water while swimming at Muradzikwa Village, Chipinge on Monday.

Police confirmed the tragic incident.

The victims, along with their 7-year-old sister, were left at home by their grandmother who was attending a funeral in the neighbourhood.

The three children went to the nearby pit to swim, resulting in the tragic drowning of two.

The tragedy follows the sad drowning of two infants, a boy, aged 4, and a girl aged 9 in a fish pond at a village in Mberengwa a week ago.

The minors met their misfortune as they were collecting a common wild fruit, nyii at a deserted homestead.
