Kombi overturns killing two and injuring 17

In yet another tragic road traffic accident involving a public transport vehicle, two people died while 17 others were injured when a Nissan Caravan kombi they were traveling in burst a rear tyre and overturned along the Harare-Masvingo highway on Saturday.
The incident, according to a police statement, happened on Saturday morning.
Police said the accident occurred at around 6.30 am at the 156 kilometre peg along Harare-Masvingo Road in Chivhu,
“Two people were killed while 15 others were injured when the rear tyre of a Nissan Caravan kombi burst.
“Subsequently, the kombi veered off the road before overturning and landing on its roof. The kombi was carrying 17 passengers.
“The bodies of the victims were taken to Chivhu General Hospital mortuary for post mortem while the injured were admitted at the same hospital,” police said.
The sad incident followed the tragic loss of 24 people on Thursday morning with more than 30 were injured when a speeding Urban Connect bus they were travelling in collided with a haulage truck at the 262km peg along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road.
