Bones suspected to be those of a human being have been discovered at Zanu PF MP and gold magnate Scott Sakupwanya’s offices in Harare’s upmarket Avondale suburb.
Little however is known about the origins of the mystery but police have since launched a probe to find out if indeed bones picked by some construction workers at the site belonged were those of a human being.
According to ZimLive, a construction worker who was using an excavator to uproot a tree at the property along Churchill Road in Avondale came across what appeared to be human bones, police said.
Avondale police officers who were called to the scene reportedly took bone samples from the site for DNA analysis.
Sakupwanya, according to an internal police memo, recently acquired the property which was reportedly being used by a company called Afrihype Nyakatsanga Safari.
The company has since relocated to South Africa, it is further reported.
However, it could take time for the truth to come out as the DNA process takes several weeks.
Sakupwaya, the wily businessman with interests in gold mining and football, is a controversial figure known for his love for bling and extravagance.
During campaigns for the Tafara-Mabvuku parliamentary seat last year, the businessman was criticised for displaying unnecessary opulence after he splashed hundreds of thousands in terms of US dollars to bring celebrated US boxer Floyd Mayweather in Mabvuku, a high density suburb that has seen years of dry water taps and deteriorating roads.
