Woman breaks 3-year-old’s hand in cruel attack on stepchildren

A Bulawayo woman viciously attacked her stepchildren aged 5 and 3, causing injuries.

For her misdeeds, the unnamed woman was hauled before a Western Commonage Magistrates’ Court facing charges of contravening the Children’s Act.

The court heard that on 11 June 2024, the woman, aged 29, assaulted her 5-year-old stepson and stepdaughter, aged 3, all over their bodies using an unidentified object.

The 3-year-old sustained bruises on the neck and body as well as a broken hand.

“The accused person was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment of which 5 months was suspended,” said the National prosecuting Authority (NPA) in a statement.
