You deny me sex and give it to your men, father says before raping own daughter

In an unprecedented case, a 39-year-old Matobo father allegedly raped his teenage daughter after accusing her of having sexual relations with different men while overlooking him as a first choice for fulfilment of her sexual cravings.

A Gwanda Magistrates’ Court was told that sometime in June 2024, the man confronted his 17-year-old daughter in her bedroom and made the startling accusation.

“Sometime in June 2023 at around 8am, the complainant was at home cleaning her room when the accused person entered the room without knocking,” reads a Friday statement by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

“The accused person accused the complainant of having sexual relations with other men instead of coming to him to fulfil her sexual desires.

“He forcibly lifted her onto the bed, removed her clothes before raping her.

“The complainant screamed but was stopped by the accused person who threatened to kill her. The accused person left the complainant crying after committing the offence.

“The complainant confided in her mother concerning the matter and she was advised to take the matter up with her aunt.

“The matter only came to light after the Police received a tip-off leading to the arrest of the accused person.”

For the crime, the man was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.
