‘Bewitched’ Dynamos owes US14 000 to sangoma – reports

By Sports Reporter

Struggling premiership giants owe a Bulawayo Sangoma US$14 000 in unpaid services, reports say.

The once mighty football outfit, according to media reports, is in the habit of paying sangomas to perform some rituals that would allow it to win its matches.

It has been reported that Dynamos paid a sangoma US$1 000 ahead of their Sunday clash against bitter rivals Highlanders at Rufaro but went on to lose the high-profile clash.

The team is said to be in the habit of paying sangomas amounts of US$500 for their services per game.

It is reported in the Hmetro that Dynamos has accumulated a debt of US$14 000 owed to a Bulawayo sangoma named as Maphosa.

Maphosa reportedly handles matches involving the Harare giants and clubs in the city.

“We call him Dr Maphosa, he is from Bulawayo, and it is said that the club owes him US$14 000 in unpaid dues and he is not happy about this and we are told that explains why we are struggling,” said a source.

“There is also a sangoma from Mufakose for the team, he charges US$500 per game and there is also another sangoma in Chihota.

“The money which is paid to the sangomas is listed under match expenses as there are no receipts to support whether the sangomas have really been paid or not.”

Dynamos lie in an unfamiliar sixth position on the premiership log standings and are separated by a gaping 14 points with league leaders FC Platinum who are on 38 points out of 18 matches played by all teams in the current football campaign.

There are beliefs from the club faithful that the team with the most number of league trophies was bewitched.
