Her posting ends three years of waiting since her predecessor …ended his mission to Zimbabwe.
Speaking to journalists soon after presenting her credentials at State House, Tremont said she was honoured to represent her country in Zimbabwe.

“I had a lovely meeting with President Mnangagwa just now. I passed on President Biden’s greetings to him and we discussed ways in which we can improve the relations between the US and Zimbabwe.
Tremont also pledged more food support to Zimbabwe to alleviate the devastating drought situation in the country.
She added, “Our commitment to Zimbabwe has been longstanding. We have contributed US$5 billion to the Zimbabwean people since independence, in health, demining, entrepreneurship, agriculture and other economic prosperity initiatives.
“We are happy to continue that and we will always be a reliable and consistent partner to Zimbabwe.
“I also thanked President Mnangagwa for his condolences he sent to President Biden after Saturday’s shooting which resulted in the injury of former President Trump and the death of a man who was protecting his family. I appreciated those condolences.
“We agreed that political violence is abhorrent and does not belong in the US or any other country.”
Mnangagwa on Tuesday wrote to Biden expressing his “shock” over the near killing of Trump.
