Armed robbers seize US$15 000, gold from Mutasa village
Suspects flee in victim’s car loaded with 500kg maize

Five robbers armed with machetes pounced on a village in Mutasa, Manicaland on Monday and made off with US$15 000 cash, gold and a car loaded with 500kg maize.
The incident happened at Mberi Village, Mutasa, Manicaland.

Police in Penhalonga have since launched an appeal for information which may assist in the investigation of the robbery.
Police said, “Five unknown suspects attacked three complainants with machetes before stealing US$15 000 cash, 20 grammes of gold and various clothes. The suspects fled from the scene using one of the complainants’ car, a white Nissan Serena vehicle registration number AFY 4673.
“The vehicle was loaded with 10 X 50 kilogrammes of maize. The complainants sustained varying injuries and were referred to a hospital in Mutare for treatment.”
