11-month-old baby killed in Harare kombi accident
Police release names of victims as death toll rises to 5

An 11-month-old baby is among five people killed on Wednesday afternoon after a kombi that was carrying 18 passengers overturned near Mabvuku turn-off in Harare.
Police reported on Wednesday that 10 more passengers were rushed to hospital following the accident.

In a statement on Thursday, police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi named the female infant as Keylia Munene.
Nyathi however did not state if the mother of the baby also died from the accident.

Reference is made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s post on X platform regarding a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 10th July 2024 at around 1330 hours at the 20 kilometre peg along Harare-Mutare Road, near Mabvuku turn off.
The death toll has risen to five after one of the 10 injured victims died upon admission at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police releases the names of the victims who were identified by their next of kin as listed:-
➤ Keylia Munene (11 months), a female infant.
➤ Loice Rushizha (69), a female adult of Dzivarasekwa, Harare.
➤ Steven Ngozha (74), a male adult of Dzivarasekwa, Harare.
➤ Violet Mesa, a female adult of Nyamanhindi Village, Rusape.
➤ Joyce Mundogwinya (52), a female adult of New Ceney Park, Ushewekunze, Harare.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that motorists should observe stipulated speed limits and abide by all road rules and regulations in-order to curb road traffic accidents.
