Police name okapi double murder suspect as Cogitate Ganyiwa

Two people were stabbed to death by the same suspect who was reportedly claiming one of the victims stepped on his toes inside a Budiriro bar in Harare.

In a Monday statement, police named the suspect as Cogitate Ganyiwa who has reportedly gone on the run.

Police said they were “appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Cogitate Ganyiwa who is being sought in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 6 July 2024 at a night club in Budiriro 1, Harare in which Alec Ruvhere (22) and Tadiwanashe Murerwa (20) died”.

“The suspect stabbed the two victims with an okapi knife following an altercation which rose after the first victim had stepped on the suspect’s foot during a beer drinking spree.”

Police appealed for information that could help towards the arrest of the suspect and their investigations.
