Facial skin, private parts found missing in suspected case of ritual murder

Police are searching for clues over a case of suspected ritual murder of an unidentified man whose body was on Monday found floating in Mazowe River with private parts missing.

A stone was tied on the waist of the victim, police said Tuesday.

“Police in Mazowe are investigating circumstances surrounding a case of suspected murder in which the body of a yet to be identified man was found floating in water at Mazowe Dam on 1 July 2024.

“A stone was tied to the victim’s waist using a rope and the body had a stab wound on the chest. Facial skin and private parts were missing.”

Police appealed for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits to report at any nearest police station.

Ritual murders are common in Zimbabwe.

In January this year, a 57-year-old Rio Tinto teacher’s corpse was found without eyes, ears and nose while his head was also skinned.

The case was linked to ritual murder.
