Serial rapist, murderer Daniel Chauke jailed 133 years

Court told of gory details of how he attacked and subdued his many victims

Serial rapist and treble murderer Daniel Chauke (62) has been sentenced to 133 years imprisonment after being convicted of seven counts of rape.

This follows a full trial which took place on a continuous roll from 10 to 14 June 2024.

Chauke was found guilty of raping a 69-year-old woman he attacked as she returned from her field 3 April 2022.

The convict approached his victim and told her that her grandchildren had stolen his property at his house.

“He hit the complainant once on the right cheek causing her to fall.

“He tied her hands and mouth and force-marched her into a bushy area where he committed the offence,” reads a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority.

Chauke went on to commit six more similar offences involving women victims aged 60, 46, 23, 71, 36 and 45 between July 2022 and April this year.

He is also facing three counts of murder.

He was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment on the first count.

On the second count, the accused person was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.

He was also sentenced to 20 years each for counts 3 to 7. Count 1 to 4 will run concurrently with count 7. He will serve 60 years effectively.
