Approached by interim coach to reconsider his decision to dump Warriors

Football star Khama Billiat could soon find himself back in a Zimbabwe national team shirt amid reports the Yadah player was approached by Warriors interim coach Jairos Tapera to reconsider his decision to dump squad.
Billiat, who had a glittering career in the gold and green Warriors strip spanning over a decade, quit international football under unclear circumstances in November 2021.

But the former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star found himself playing for a Zimbabwean team this year after failing to secure a contract with South African clubs.
His proximity to Zimbabwe’s domestic football could turn out to be the much-needed turning point as the star has reportedly been requested to reverse his decision to dump the Warriors.
Tapera had a brief chat with Billiat at the end of a premiership match on Saturday during which Billiat scored to save his team from defeat. The match ended in a draw.

State media reports Billiat did not immediately respond to the coach’s exaltation as he would need to make further consultations.
Tapera, according to reports, has assured Billiat he will be one of the few over 23 players in the squad for the COSAFA tournament, which runs from June 26 to July 7 in Durban, South Africa.
The Zimbabwe Warriors have struggled to compete after Billiat and former skipper Knowledge Musona retired from international football a couple of years ago.
