Man burns colleague with acid in row over pool token
Gets 6 years imprisonment over the crime

A 26-year-old man from Mberengwa in Midlands province poured acid on a colleague’s head during a misunderstanding over a snooker token, a court was told recently.
For the crime, Tafadzwa Mpofu of Village 7 Mutekedza under Chief Mazivofa, Mberengwa appeared before the Zvishavane Magistrates’ Court facing attempted murder.

During his trial, the court heard that on 27 May 2024 at Mutekedza Shops, Mberengwa, the Mpofu had a disagreement with Riller Ndlovu (29) over snooker tokens.
“The accused person briefly moved away from the complainant before he returned with a bottle of acid and poured it on the complainant’s face and head,” said the National Prosecuting Authority in a statement.

“He fled the scene after the act. A police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person.”
He was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment of which 1 year was suspended for 5 years.
