Poaching suspect busted with 15kg zebra meat

A man was arrested in Chiredzi after being after he was caught by police weekend in possession of 15kg of zebra meat.

Police confirmed the incident adding that the suspect has admitted to killing the animal at a ranch.

“On 27 April 2024, police in Chiredzi arrested Digital Dhliwayo (23) in connection with a case of poaching a Zebra at Humani Ranch.

“The suspect was found with 15 kilogrammes of semi dried Zebra meat at Mabhiza Village, Humani and he confessed to the Police that he killed the Zebra at the ranch on 25 April 2024.”

It was however not immediately clear what he had intended the meat for as zebra meat is not a known source of food for humans.
