In-form Highlanders midfielder Melikhaya Ncube has won the inaugural club player-of-the-month award which was accompanied by a modest US$400 windfall for his achievements.

The ceremony, sponsored by prominent Bulawayo businessman Phathisani Nkomo, fellow business colleagues and fans coalescing under Friends of Bosso (BFB) banner, was held at the flamboyant city bar, East68 in Bulawayo’s EMatshamhlophe suburb.

Ncube was elated by the accolade.

“I am very happy for the whole team because I would not have achieved this without the guys, and special thanks to coach Kaindu.

“He brings out the best in us as a team and last but importantly to the fans and stakeholders that have put this award together, thank you so much,” Ncube said.

Highlanders head coach Kelvin Kaindu applauded East68 and Bosso friends for the gesture saying it will do a lot to boost the Zimbabwe football premiership leaders’ moral in its camp.

“We would like to appreciate the new sponsor that has come abroad for the player of the month,” said Kaindu.

“We are so grateful as a team; this is a motivation and we will make sure that we continue winning and we celebrate the player that has been given this award because he has worked very hard.”

Bosso CEO Sihlangu Dlodlo rallied unity and focus among the club faithful as he also took time to laud Ncube and the entire team’s industry.

“Well done Melikhaya. Thumbs up and keep it up.

“To our coach, you are doing a very good job and we will love and respect you because we see the difference.”
