Grandma’s horror as girl, aged 3, is raped in her presence

A 39-year-old Lupane faces jail after he allegedly raped a 3-year-old girl in full view of the victim’s grandmother.
For the crime, the man, who cannot be named on ethical reasons, was arraigned before the Nyamandlovu Circuit Court facing rape charges. .
Prosecutors told court that on 12 March 2024, the man visited the victim’s home to buy some mealie-meal.
“He was served by the complainant’s grandmother who then went into the bathroom to relieve herself,” reads a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority.
“When she returned, she found the accused person sitting on the veranda with his trousers at thigh level and he was raping the complainant.
“The complainant’s grandmother grabbed the complainant away from the accused person and she screamed for help.
“Some villagers came and effected a citizens’ arrest on the accused person before he was taken to the police.”
The matter has been remanded to 22 March 2024 and will appear at the Tredgold Regional Court.
