Who dares rob a sangoma in her shrine!
This was the case with Jerry Wonder Siziba (28) and Collen Muleya who were taken to Beitbridge Magistrates Court facing 2 counts of robbery.
The court heard that on 11 January this year, the two visited the traditional healer who they found in the company of her male relative and were pretending to be seeking spiritual healing.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority, they demanded cash from the traditional healer who they assaulted her all over the body.
One of the accused persons pointed a gun at the traditional healer forcing her to surrender ZAR 3 000.
They also took the relative’s phone.
“The accused persons fled the scene when they noticed the complainant’s neighbour approaching the homestead,” NPA said.
“Siziba was positively identified by the complainant on the next day at Mutetengwe Business Centre who reported the matter to the police leading to his arrest.
“A spot search on Siziba led to the recovery of the complainant’s Mobicel phone from his pocket.
“He implicated the second accused person.”
Siziba was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment while Muleya was acquitted.
