Family pleads for peace as Moreblessing Ali gets buried

Lawyer announces late CCC activist’s burial arrangements

By Staff Reporter

The family of Moreblessing Ali has pleaded for peace as the slain Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist finally gets buried in Chitungwiza this Saturday.

Family spokesperson Job Sikhala recorded a video he posted Friday giving details of the Ali’s burial arrangements.

Sikhala said Ali’s remains shall be taken from a funeral parlour on Saturday morning and driven to her house in Nyatsime at 8AM.

This would be followed by a church service that shall be conducted between 8 and 11 AM by members of her church.

After the church service, speeches shall be made at the late activist’s house.

The body will depart her house at 11 AM for Zororo Cemetery just outside Chitungwiza and arrive at the cemetery at 12PM.

This would be followed by burial rituals.

The family is pleading with all those who are going to mourn with them to maintain peace so as to pay our salutary respect to our heroine who was brutally murdered for her political beliefs.

Ali was murdered in May 2022 by Zanu PF activist Pius Jamba who was last year handed 30 years imprisonment for the crime.

Her family adamantly refused to bury her for as long as Sikhala remained under pre-trial detention which ended recently after he had endured nearly 600 continuous days in custody.

Sikhala was arrested and charged with inciting political violence in the wake of Ali’s memorial which was marred by clashes between Zanu PF and CCC supporters.
