Opposition politician and lawyer Tendai Biti has been fined US$300 “forthwith” by a Harare magistrate after he was on Monday convicted for verbal assault on Russian businesswoman Tatiana Aleshina.
An alternative sentence of six months imprisonment was also imposed on the former finance minister if he failed to pay the fine.
A further six months has been wholly suspended on condition he does not commit a similar offence within five years.
