Ncube CCC to engage Tshabangu, slams Chamisa for alleged dictatorship

Denies supporting recalls on CCC MPs

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim leader Welshman Ncube says the opposition party is set to open talks with Sengezo Tshabangu and the State to regain control of the main opposition.

He was speaking in an interview with CITE on matters relating to the fractured party.

More than two dozen party legislators and over 60 councillors have lost their seats through controversial recalls by the self-styled CCC interim secretary general.

Tshabangu argued he took the controversial action in an attempt to reverse former party leader Nelson Chamisa’s imposition of loyalists as candidates to parliamentary positions.

The Ncube led faction of the opposition says part of its agenda going forward was to make an appeal to Tshabangu who has freely wielded the axe on elected lawmakers.

“In a democratic environment, in a multi-party country the state recognises the organs of the official opposition,” Ncube said.

“We need to be able to engage the two so that we can reassert the authority of the party. We might fail, we might succeed, but we hope that we will succeed.”
