Takura quits music due to ‘mental health’
Celebrity musician makes incoherent explanation over shock decision

Celebrity musician Takura Bernard Shonhai, better known as Takura, has announced he is quitting the profession citing “mental health” issues.
A favourite of many, Takura said he has decided to abandon his passion and also abort release of his album Deluxe.
The Haarore hitmaker posted a video of himself on social media making an incoherent expression of his fond love for music and reasons of his exit.
He said his bombshell announcement was nothing to do with seeking relevance.
“What I’m about to tell you is something that I have struggled with for a very long time.
“To anyone that knows me, they’ll tell you how much I’m obsessed with music.
“I don’t even think people understand like I’m so obsessed and that’s the only thing I know you know.
“You can try to make me do something really easy and I will struggle and you think this guy is dumb.”
Takura said quitting music was “by far the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life”.
He thanked fans for supporting his art which he said has taken him to many parts of the world.
“So, I appreciate you guys. I wanted to drop the Deluxe and that was gonna be my last project, but I’ve been struggling, even to make a song…”
Takura added, “Mental health is something that’s real but it seems like you know, if you’re a man, how can you feel all those things, what’s going on, you know, into this too late.
“So, check on your loved ones musafunge kuti mental health ndeye masalad or whatever people say, it’s very important for you guys to do that.”
