Two boys aged 5 and 8 axed to death
As teen also murdered, body thrown into mine shaft

Two boys aged 5 and 8 years have been axed to death allegedly by a 37-year-old man in a gruesome murder incident that occurred in Chivi.
Police said on Wednesday that “Moses Hungwe (37) was arrested in connection with a case of murder which occurred at a homestead in Chidhume Village, Headman Kuvhirimara, Chivi on 13 February 2024 in which two male juveniles aged five and eight years died”.

“The suspect allegedly struck the two victims with an axe on the heads. The victims succumbed to injuries sustained.”
In another incident involving the heinous crime, a 19-year-old artisanal minor was killed with his body thrown into a mine shaft after a misunderstanding with fellow minors over gold ore.

“ZRP confirms the arrest of Wellington Phiri (18), Makhosi Mthethwa (27), Mlungisi Moyo (34) and Melusi Nkomo (19) in connection with a case of murder which occurred at Fools mine, Hope-Fountain, Bulawayo on 13 February 2024 in which Melusi Nkomo (19) died.”
