A Gweru woman faces murder after she allegedly stabbed and killed her husband’s girlfriend whom she had caught sleeping with her man on the couple’s matrimonial bed.
Police provincial spokesperson for Midlands Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident which occurred in Gweru’s Mkoba 14 on Saturday.
Mahoko said the suspect Stacy Thokozani Mkandla has been arrested for murder.
The deceased girlfriend was identified as Brightness Nancy Phiri (pictured below) while the husband is named as Tafadzwa Munyoro.
According to police, Mkandla has left for a church prayer at around 7PM on Saturday night leaving her husband with the couple’s two minor children.
Her husband reportedly left the children alone and returned at around 10PM in Phiri’s company.
While at church, Mkandla was reportedly tipped off her husband had brought a girlfriend into the house, leading to her sudden return.
Said Inspector Mahoko, “Mkandla returned home the same Saturday night from a night prayer and found Phiri and her husband Tafadzwa Emmanuel Mahoko in the bedroom.”
Mkandla reportedly took a kitchen knife and tried to stab Phiri but was disarmed by her husband who took the weapon outside the bedroom.
Mahoko added, “While Tafadzwa was out, Mkandla took another knife in the kitchen and stabbed Phiri several times in the body.
“Phiri managed to escape outside of the house naked and jumped over the precast wall but soon collapsed on the street and died.
“Phiri’s body was taken to Gweru provincial hospital and the suspect is now in police custody.”
