Man kills own grandmother, aged 94, over ‘witchcraft’

A 25-year-old Shurugwi man went berserk, burning his 94-year-old grandmother’s clothes before striking and killing the nonagenarian with a log while accusing her of practising witchcraft.

Police confirmed the shock incident adding that the suspect, Takudzwa Mugariri is now on the run following the commission of the crime.

“Police in Gweru are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Takudzwa Mugariri (25) who is being sought in connection with a case of murder in which his grandmother, Easther Marozva (94) died at Marozva Village, Chief Banga, Shurugwi on 03 February 2024,” polixce said via their official social media handles on Monday.

“The suspect had accused the victim of witchcraft before burning her clothes and assaulting her with a log.

“The victim was found with multiple wounds all over the body. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.”
