Chamisa spokesperson declares Biti, Ncube bare-knuckle fight

Promise Mkwananzi urges party members to ignore communication outside his own

By Staff Reporter

CCC is now headed for bare-knuckle infighting after party spokesman Promise Mkwananzi has dismissed his ouster and further declared as null and void, decisions made by the former MDC Alliance standing committee which has assumed control in the wake of party leader Nelson Chamisa’s unceremonious exit last week.

Following Chamisa’s resignation, CCC senior politicians, among them Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube and Lynette Katenyi-Kore quickly regrouped and reinstalled the former MDC Alliance structures to take control in the interim.

CCC was formed two years ago from the ashes of MDC Alliance in which Chamisa was elected party president in 2019 while Biti, Ncube and Karenyi-Kore were elected co-deputies. The structures were destroyed by Chamisa.

In a new twist to the CCC leadership chaos, Mkwananzi, who was appointed party spokesperson by Chamisa, declared the resolutions made by the party after the latter announced his exit did not hold.

Statement by Mkwananzi

“Citizen’s Coalition For Change refutes a statement purportedly issued on its behalf on the 28th of January 2024 by unknown people claiming to be a Standing Committee.

“CCC was formed on the 24th of January 2022 and only celebrated its 2nd anniversary a few days ago. The party did not exist in 2019 and does not have a structure known as the Standing Committee. The party is yet to conduct its inaugural congress.

“CCC decisions are taken by its supreme decision-making body; the Citizens National Assembly (CNA) assisted by Provincial Taskforces and District Clusters.

“CCC deployees in parliament and local authorities, activists, members, local leaders, supporters and members of the public are urged to remain patient until formal communication regarding the way forward is made and confirmed to be authentic.

“Kindly disregard any statement purpoting to be from CCC which does not appear on the official social media handles of the party.

National Spokesperson

Promise Mkwananzi.”
