Man (59) faces rape after sperms found in baby victim’s nappies

A 59-year-old man has been arrested in Bulawayo for alleged rape after some semen was found in his 1-year-old victim’s nappies.

It is alleged that Phathisani Thebe of Banda Homestead, Hope Fountain visited the infant’s home where he usually takes up menial jobs to earn a living.

Police say he found the infant in the custody of her 14-year-old sister who was watching over her while their mother had gone away for some errands.

Thebe allegedly took the infant and went away with her for some 30 minutes.

He later returned with the minor crying.

The incident came to light when the mother of the baby found her still crying.

When she tried to change her nappies, she was shocked to fine semen in her linen while her private parts were “swollen”, according to police.

The minor’s juvenile sister revealed to the mother Thebe disappeared with her over some time before returning her.

A report was opened at Hillside Police station leading to Thebe’s arrest.
