Chamisa exit a ‘tragedy’, says FreeZim Congress leader

Joseph Busha also questions Chamisa strategy to jump ship when threatened

Opposition FreeZim Congress leader Joseph Makamba Busha says Nelson Chamisa’s bombshell resignation as CCC president is a “tragedy” but questions the popular politician’s decision to switch parties whenever his political bravery is tested.

The South Africa based Zimbabwean businessman was speaking in Harare on Friday during a media briefing focusing on his own political ambitions while also giving views on the Israel incursion in Gaza.

“Zimbabwe is now becoming a tragedy. It’s a tragedy of stories and it’s unfortunate that it has come to this end that one of our leading leaders in Advocate Chamisa is leaving CCC possibly to form a new party.

“This is really because of all the frustrations that have happened in the country,” Busha said.

He condemned recalls on CCC MPs by self-imposed interim party secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu saying the move was too extreme for an internal party dispute and posed far reaching effects on the political stability of the entire country.

“I want to wish Advocate Chamisa well in his endeavours, whatever he does but certainly as I said to you, it is just a tragedy,” he said.

Busha, who has contested Chamisa and many other hopefuls in the 2018 and 2023 presidential elections, was however opposed to Chamisa’s strategy to jump ship.

“…I think it’s just a confusion in the sense that you can’t build a house and then move in the other house and then build another one,” he said.

“You have foundations and just as you build it, you go and start a new foundation.

“It’s a tragedy. I feel sorry for him, he is a young man. I guess he is also learning as he goes but certainly we could understand there is infiltration, but he also has to make sure that he has got solutions to the many problems I think as a political leader, you would face.

“He needs to make sure that he answers the recalling of his MPs strongly on that.”
