High Court orders 23 ousted CCC candidates’ removal from February ballot

Recalled Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MPs Ostallos Siziba, Amos Chibaya and others have been disqualified from participating in the February 3 by-elections after High Court on Friday ruled in favour of self-styled party interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu’s application to have them removed from the ballot.

Tshabangu argued the ousted MPs and councillors illegally submitted nomination papers under a party that had recalled them from parliament and local authorities before.

Justice Pisirai Kwenda presided over the matter.

The 23 are the second batch of recalled CCC MPs and councillors to be removed from the ballot under similar circumstances since Tshabangu started ordering the ouster of the lawmakers.
