Suspect in Christmas murder over snooker token arrested

FILABUSI – Police say they have arrested Takeknowledge Mthombeni, 39, the suspect in the shock killing of a 21-year-old man during an argument over a snooker token at a Filabusi Nite Club on Christmas Day.
In an update on its X handle, police said Thursday Mthombeni was also facing a charge of armed robbery which happened in Mberengwa some time ago.
“Reference is made to the ZRP message on X platform on 26 December 2023 in which Wilson Malunga, 21, was shot dead by suspect, Takeknowledge Mthombeni, 39, while playing snooker in Filabusi on 25 December 2023 at around 1.30AM,” police said.
“The police has arrested the suspect at Mabhuru Business Centre, Neta, Mberengwa. The firearm used in the commission of the crime has been recovered.
Police also said the suspect is now facing another charge of armed robbery in relation to the case which occurred in Mberengwa on 23 December where the firearm used to kill Malunga was stolen.
