Police called to eject CCC MPs for disrupting Scott Sakupwanya swear-in

Police were Thursday called to eject some CCC legislators who defiantly broke into song when the Speaker Jacob Mudenda was swearing in Mabvuku-Tafara MP Scott Sakupwanya and eight other lawmakers elected into the august house in the controversial December 9 by-elections.

Mudenda went on to issue an immediate ban for the next four parliamentary sessions on ejected MPs.

CCC is agitated over the blocking of its ousted legislators from participating in last Saturday’s by-elections by both the courts and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

The polls were called after Sengezo Tshabangu, who claims to be interim CCC secretary general, recalled over 20 sitting legislators and dozens over councillors claiming they had ceased to be party members.

The recalls, blamed on Zanu PF’s meddlesome hand by CCC, are also linked to opposition internal fissures.
